Who we are
As a Doctor of Counselling and Psychotherapy, Courtney’s work bridges research and practice, with a particular focus on developmental trauma-informed care, foster parent self-care, and self-compassionate stress management. Drawing on both professional practice and lived experience, Courtney is committed to implementing ethical, compassionate, and culturally responsive approaches to wellbeing through her research, writing, and speaking engagements.
In her personal life, Courtney is a wife and mother of three children. She is also a foster parent of 10 years, as her family opens their home to short and long-term foster care placements. This role is one that is near to Courtney’s heart as she grew up as a biological child in a foster family home as well. This began her lifelong engagement and connection with the foster care system that continues to motivates her work and support of foster parents and children alike.
Beyond her clinical and academic contributions, she frequently engages with organizations and communities to promote resilience, self-care, and sustainable mental health support systems.
